Leo Apotheker out, Meg Whitman the new HP CEO

Looks like HP kicked out its CEO Leo Apotheker and instead hired Meg Whitman instead.

Considering the various foolish things HP has done in the last year, this is not at all surprising – they finally reach dominance of the PC market, and then they want to sell off their PC division? Madness. (Apotheker must have been drinking the same Kool-Aid as Netflix’s leadership.)

Still, I doubt Whitman will do any better. HP is like a medieval kingdom that, having just deposed their king, goes around looking for any idiot with royal blood in his veins. They should have promoted from within (the way Apple did with Tim Cook) rather than hiring some outsider. Instead of someone who knows HP’s business, they’ve got another big-name suit from the CEO class who, like many a medieval royal, will probably turn out to be more bang than bullet.
