the end of GHOST EXILE

GHOST IN THE WINDS is almost ready, and I confess to excitement.

It’s been three years and nine books, and over a million words written (if you include the twelve short stories). I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the series – on the treadmill, while driving, while walking, and when actually sitting down to work on it.

After all that, we are about to come to the end of GHOST EXILE at last. It is a peculiar feeling, but a good one. I am fortunate. Not every writer gets to experience that!

It’s been quite a journey. Thanks for coming along to the end!

  • Picked it up on Amazon already. That has to be one of your quickest finishes yet. I was thinking you might be closer to Labor Day.

Thanks! I hope you enjoy it.

I can never predict the exact dates – it took FROSTBORN: THE FALSE KING a week to show up on Google Play, but GHOST IN THE WINDS appeared within four hours.

Amazon always seems quick. I make a guess based upon when you finish the first draft and also by when you post the cover and table of contents. The book is awesome by the way.

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed GHOST IN THE WINDS.

Amazon is almost always the quickest, but I’ve had Kobo and iTunes win out a few times. Usually it’s Amazon, though.

  • I bought it today on Amazon, and I almost don’t want to start it! This has been such an amazing series! (2 series? Ghost and Ghost Exile) This is hands down one of my all time favorites. I had almost given up on the Fantasy genre until I first picked up a kindle, and found self-published authors such as yourself. All fantasy novels have a formula, and often authors of series fall into a trap that the formula gets so transparent that you want to just shoot yourself before reading the next book to find out how the series ends. You sir have not fallen into that trap! Each book has been almost a stand alone story, and is fresh and exciting. Keep up the good work!!!

P.S. Thanks for the freebies to the newsletter subscribers!

Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed THE GHOSTS and GHOST EXILE.

(I suppose it’s one long series, but I list it as two because it’s a lot easier to market two separate series than one really long series.)

I think it helps that I’ve read a lot outside of the SF/F genres, so I can bring other elements in. The fun thing about the GHOSTS books is that they can change genre. CHILD OF THE GHOSTS was a coming of age story. GHOST IN THE MAZE was a heist book, GHOST IN THE COWL was a mystery, and GHOST IN THE HUNT was more of a thriller.

As a reader, I really hate that feeling when a favorite book or book series is about to come to an end. It is a weird kind of homesick feeling. But I’m glad that even if Ghost in Exile ends, it will still continue in another series!
I look forward to seeing how the characters navigate the circumstances they’ve found themselves in, in the new series! I can’t wait! Thanks so much for sharing Caina’s story with us.

On a side note, it there a way to conceal spoilers in your comment thread, the way Goodreads is able to use spoiler tags?

The site’s not set up for spoiler tags, but in a few weeks I’m going to do a spoiler discussion thread for GHOST IN THE WINDS.
