You can read the first chapter of GHOST IN THE HUNT right here.

CAINA AMALAS is the Ghost circlemaster of Istarinmul, the leader of the Emperor’s spies in the city. With the aid of mysterious allies, she fights to stop the sinister plans of the ruthless Grand Master Callatas.

But Callatas has spent two centuries preparing to remake humanity, and he will exterminate any who dare to oppose him.

CLAUDIA ABERON DORIUS was once a sorceress of the Imperial Magisterium, yet now she is the wife of a high noble of the Empire. Civil war rips the Empire, and the rebel sorcerers have targeted her beloved husband for death. Claudia has no choice but to work with Caina, the woman she despises most in the world, to save her husband’s life.

But a danger comes that neither Caina nor Claudia have foreseen…

KALGRI is the Red Huntress, the centuries-old assassin of legend. She has killed kings and princes, sorcerers and alchemists, young and old and rich and poor, and laughed at their screams and rejoiced at the tears of their families. She has slain countless innocents, and no one has ever stopped her.

And her next target is Caina Amalas.

More books would be very good. Hooked on Caina/Ghosts trying to find time to read Demonsouled (read 1st) and Frostborn

Can I post what I think you are going to do in subsequent books? I’m asking first, in case I’m right and don’t want to spoil it for others (and yes I have read Ghost in the Hunt).

Post away. If necessary, I’ll mark the comment with a SPOILER tag.

COMMENT FROM JM: NOTE THAT THIS COMMENT MAY OR MAY NOT CONTAIN SPOILERS.

    1. I’m guessing for the Wraithblood/Apotheosis connection that the WB allows the Nagataaru (I’m not keen on grabbing my nook to get the spelling right) to possess unwilling and living hosts (as happened in the Netherworld in Ghost in the Maze).

I have a feeling that similar to the golden dead (and the rune-dead from the Demonsouled series) that you like to have the “enemy within” as it is much more terrifying and hard to fight. As such, when Callatas manages to complete his work, all of the WB addicts will suddenly be possessed and the citizens of the city will be hard pressed to defend against them. I’m also assuming due to the blue eyes and Callatas’s control that the Immortals are A. either imbibing WB in their elixirs (which will make them vulnerable) or B. will not fight the Nagataaru under Callatas’s orders (and might instead kill the alchemists and others they were supposed to guard).

At any rate, at that point you have a legion of Nagataru possessed citizens (along with possibly the locksmith although I imagine you might have Caina help her fight through it) coupled with the possibility for the Immortals to join in and you have a massive fustercluck.

    2. I’m guessing Nasser is somehow related to Iramis based off your comments about his true “accent” the assassin’s comments about his family, etc. I’m not sure what exactly his connection is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you managed to work him in at the fall as part of the royal family (possibly the prince?).

    3. Random supposition…I’m assuming Callatas is possibly possessed by the prince/leader of the Nagataaru. No evidence I can directly find, but I’m guessing here.

    4. As for the Azure Sovereign…

I’m not sure how the djinn work in the Ghosts series but I imagine due to the color (azure/blue) and the fact that it hasn’t rained since Iramis fell that they are possibly water elementals? The crystal was mentioned as part of this making me wonder if the Sovereign is the crystal and his “imprisonment” isn’t why the djinn now are bound under Callatas. Could also explain why it hasn’t rained since the fall happened.

At any rate, I enjoy your books and hope you pump them out faster.

Am I close on any of these btw?

I will say that one and a half of the points are right, but I fear it would be cheating to say which ones. πŸ™‚

Would guessing that points 1 and half of 4 are correct be a wild supposition?

Pretty close. Most of Callatas’s plans have been laid out in the first three GHOST EXILE books, though Caina hasn’t had a chance to see all the pieces yet. I will say that the djinni aren’t water elementals – one of Samnirdamnus’s titles is the Knight of Wind and Air. The djinni to organize themselves, but the points of organization don’t always make sense to mortals since the djinni don’t quite work in linear time the same way mortals do.

Anyway, thanks for the comments! Hopefully the rest of GHOST EXILE will live up! πŸ™‚

            Crap forgot about his titles.

At any rate, I only came up with points 2-4 after reading Ghost in the Hunt.

I had the thought about point 1 starting at the first book and Maze just confirmed that for me.

Hey just wanted to let you know that nassar refers to Caina as “she” before he is supposed to know that Caina is a girl. It happens when Claudia and Martin meet him for the first time.

Okay spoiler alert. Nasser is the prince. Well I have thought so since the maze book. Her next nemesis. Will be the razor guy who is controlled by the bad order guys. It would be cool if fauna and Nasser hook up.but I believe the chick the prikron belongs to is the woman the prince loves
