The books of Jonathan Moeller

  • Hi Jonathan- thanks for a great series of books! As you mentioned above- there were certainly some twists in turns within Iron Tower. What really caught me off guard was the developments within Ridmark and Morgina’s relationship. It doesn’t seem to fit Ridmark’s personality. He has always been more controlled and purposeful in his actions, and to give in to the young woman’s ‘puppy love’ doesn’t make sense. In fact- it seems like it could become very, very dangerous. Besides that- his connection to Calliende has always been much stronger and deeper- especially with the heavy burdens each is carrying. Perhaps it was just his own internal frustration and fear of that connection to Calliende that led him to Morigna? Calliende was also struggling with her connection to Ridmark throughout the book- constantly seeking the watcher’s approval to take action, but without a clear answer- she pulled back and hid her feelings. Maybe they were both dealing with things in their own ways. Needless to say- Ridmark and Morigna surprised me the most and as i was reading it all i kept thinking was “Oh no.. that’s a very bad idea! Big mistake Ridmark.”

Thanks again for the great series.. and I really enjoy the Ghosts as well.. looking forward to the next release!

Thanks! I’m glad you liked the book!

I suspect the biggest difference between Morigna and Calliande was that Morigna was willing to take the first step with Ridmark, while Calliande would wait for Ridmark to take the first step with her. As for whether or not it that was a mistake on Ridmark’s part…future books shall tell. 🙂

The biggest surprise for me in the book was Mara and the Artificer. In the original outline for the series, she did not have as big a role in THE IRON TOWER as she did – she would basically wait around for Jager to rescue her. But once it turned out that she was half dark elven and the Traveler’s daughter, the rest sort of wrote itself organically.
