how many books in the FROSTBORN series?

Now that FROSTBORN: THE GORGON SPIRIT has been out for a week, let’s have some questions!

-How many books will there be in the Frostborn series? How long will it take to write them?

15 books total.

(Not counting FROSTBORN: THE FIRST QUEST.)

So fifteen books. I’ve noticed no one ever actually believes me when I say this. 🙂

But I’ve planned from the beginning for FROSTBORN to be a grand total of fifteen books. They’re all plotted out already, and I know what happens for the rest of the series, so I’m not winging it. When unexpected things happen while I’m writing (like Mara becoming so prominent of a character, or the entirety of Antenora’s character and backstory) I adjust the outline for the rest of the books.

If I’m able to keep on at the current pace of three FROSTBORN books a year, then the series should wrap up in late 2017.

-When will FROSTBORN: THE BROKEN MAGE be out?

Sometime in the summer. Not sure when yet, since I’ve got some other stuff in the works that might or might not happen. But definitely sometime this summer.

I started reading “The False King” right after I finished “The High Lords”, but I’m a bit confused. In the first chapter a character called “Third” is mentioned, but this is my first time reading of this character. In which book is this character initially introduced?

Yes. Third shows up for the first time in THE FALSE KING. In the story, there is a gap of about ten months from end of THE HIGH LORDS to the beginning of THE FALSE KING.

I thought about doing a short story called THIRD’S TALE, but it basically would spoil the endings of the first ten FROSTBORN books, so a condensed version turns up in dialogue later in THE FALSE KING.

    Hi there
Downloaded the first of the frost born series on my flight just before commencing a cruise in the Baltic Sea ….. And became hopelessly and irreversibly enmeshed in Ridmarks saga! Demolished the current books in 12 days, and gutted to find I wasn’t at the end. Save my marriage by releasing the next book, so that I can finish and resume normal living! Also, my wife hates you…

Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the FROSTBORN books.

There are four books left to go. I will release the next one before the end of 2016, and the remaining three in 2017.

I have read all the Frostborn books that were available in 2016 and just downloaded Excalibur. I have to say I have been suffering withdrawal symptoms! Especially as I read them one straight after the other. Thanks for a great series.

Did I miss a book in the frostborn series? I noted a character named Lady Third appeared starting from The Dwarven Prince but I don’t remember reading where she was supposedly saved by Ridmark. Is this something that will be taken up in another book series???

She first appears in Frostborn The False King, and her origin story is in that book.
