  • I have one question at the moment.

It seems that Rory aka Riordan hadn’t kept Russell up-to-date with regards to where his sister has been for the last year even thought Russell had asked Riordan to track her down.

    How come?

It would have been too much of a security risk. Riordan did send Russell a message that he thought he knew where Nadia was and was going after her, but that would have been eight months before BLOOD CAST. Riordan knew he was basically deep-cover infiltrating a well-funded, well-organized, and extremely ruthless terrorist organization, and one screw-up could get both him and a lot of other people killed.

Like, Lorenz was able to track down Russell because of a photograph of Nadia that she had never realized had been taken and was still on the Internet. One loose thread, and that kicked off the events of BLOOD CAST.

That said, Riordan did tell Russell who he really was while Nadia was getting her lesson from Mr. Vander. Russell hasn’t told Nadia because 1.) he figures it isn’t his secret to tell, and 2.) he’s surprised Nadia hasn’t figured it out already.

      • We’re all rather surprised that someone as smart as Nadia hasn’t figured it out yet. 🙂

What I don’t understand is why Nadia still has so few spells. Spells are tightly controlled by the elves. Things that are tightly controlled and valuable tend to find there way on to the black market. Nadia is a thief who sells stuff regularly on the black market. Why has she had so little luck acquiring spells? Is it just that she has been so tightly controlled and sheltered by Morvilind?

A couple reasons – most of the human wizards on Earth are members of the Wizard’s Legion and don’t think anyone who isn’t part of the Legion should use magic. Most Elven nobles wouldn’t teach her spells. Elven commoners live in their own cities and rarely interact with humans. So there really hasn’t been a chance for much of a black market to develop, at least one that Nadia could access.

And she has learned a bunch of new spells over the series.
