SEVENFOLD SWORD: TOWER update

6 chapters down, 18 to go. 1/4 of the way through the rough draft! Hopefully I can pick up the pace a bit this week.

I should mention that SEVENFOLD SWORD: TOWER and GHOST IN THE TOWER have no connection whatsoever. No crossovers or anything like that. It’s just a coincidence. Originally, SEVENFOLD SWORD: TOWER and GHOST IN THE TOWER were supposed to come out several months apart, not right after each other in November and December, but then I decided to write CLOAK GAMES: MAGE FALL in July, which threw off the schedule.

It was worth it, because people really liked MAGE FALL and it sold a lot of copies, but now I have two similarly named novels coming out close together. 🙂

Since you mentioned that some series, like Silent Order and Cloak Games, sell less than your traditional high fantasy series, I was wondering if you have considered (or even calculated, if that’s possible) the effect of having a library of series with similar but somewhat different genres on attracting and converting readers, i.e. someone who’s looking for urban fantasy might read Cloak Games and then come back for Frostborn if they like your style.

That has happened. I’ve had some people say “I started reading CLOAK GAMES and liked it, and I don’t usually read epic fantasy, but I liked CLOAK GAMES so I gave FROSTBORN a try.”

  • The first of your books I read was Child of the Ghosts, I went on to read all the available Ghost books and then I moved to your other series.

It’s something I do whenever I find an author I enjoy, I go straight to their amazon page to see what else they have available and then google their name to see if they have a personal website.
