freedom!

That’s very true. As a self-published writer, I do have a lot of freedom that most tradpub writers do not. When it comes to writing, 1.) I basically do whatever I want, and 2.) I ignore about 99.87% of any criticism I receive. I think that’s mostly impossible in the tradpub world, even if you sell books on the scale of Stephen King or James Patterson or Nora Roberts.
That said, I do feel very strongly an obligation to you, the readers, to write the best book possible and to not dither around too much between books in the series. And with that thought, back to writing SEVENFOLD SWORD: GUARDIAN and CLOAK OF DRAGONS! 🙂

I started reading your work after reading (struggling through) Martin’s work and really enjoying Rothfuss’s work. They were “Big Name” authors and the reviews were great so I spent my $25 a book and read them. Problem was they weren’t all that great and once I caught up I just got so frustrated by their apparent lack of care about their readers. I was used to waiting 6 months to a year for new Star Wars books (Original Time Line) but 5+ years?? No Thank you Sir!
It is so refreshing to be able to follow all your the different series (and a couple other “Independent” authors) and always have new book waiting for me when I finish one (and saving $20 a book!).

You are welcome, and thanks for the kind words! I have to admit that I regard several Big Name authors of salutary examples of how *not* to do things.
