the 100th book?

CLOAK OF DRAGONS will be my 96th novel, so Bret asks:

“Are you gonna have a big party when you publish your hundredth book?”

(For context, SEVENFOLD SWORD: GUARDIAN was book #95, and CLOAK OF DRAGONS will be #96.)

First, I should decide what I’m going to do for my 100th book. 3 options present themselves.

-I should write a standalone DEMONSOULED novel. DEMONSOULED was my very first book. It’s important for a writer to remember where he or she started.

-I should continue with my normal schedule and write whatever book happens to be next. Constancy and consistency are important for writers.

-I should write something entirely new with new characters. It’s important for a writer to be creative and try new things.

All these things are true, of course. Now I just have to decide which one of them I’m going to do. 🙂 Though, honestly, I’ll probably do the 2nd option. Long-term consistency of effort really seems to be the most important thing.

And if my math is right, I think my 100th book will be the first book of the new epic fantasy series I’ll start after SEVENFOLD SWORD is done. So that works out. 🙂

Wow 100th book. I think Ive read all of them except the computer books. A one off demonsoul novel would be fantastic to catch up with what has happened with Mazael Cravenlock since the last series.
Thanks for the entertainment. Looking forward to the next 100.

If you can find a clever way to sneak in some reference or homage to Demonsouled, you will hit all three goals.

  • What ever you do I will buy and read it!

I loved the way “The Third Soul” series and the way it was written. Having the main characters shift during the series, but still being interconnected was great. So seeing Rachaelis,Thalia, Carandis, or Raelum again would be awesome!
