biker

Today, for the first time in about seven and a half years, I rode a bicycle.

I used to ride my bike everywhere. But then I got a job 50 miles away, and, well, that was that, and my bike languished for lo these many years in my parents’ garage. But then my parents wanted it out of my garage, and so they fixed it up and dropped it off.

I ran four miles this morning, came home, looked at the bike.

Well. Just one time around the block, for old time’s sake.

Eight miles later, I finally came home.

It is a lot easier than I remember. Of course, the last time I rode a bike I was probably a hundred pounds heavier.
