progress update

I passed the 90,000 word mark of CLOAK OF MASKS yesterday.

If all goes well, I think I will wrap up the rough draft by the end of this coming week. I think it will land at about the 105,000 word mark or so, but we’ll see!

I haven’t decided what I will do for the short story yet – maybe something with Victoria Carrow since she came in second in that poll we did this summer, but it might also be interesting to write a short story from the perspective of a truck driver who’s at the Great Gate complex during a goblin raid.

Hopefully, we’ll have CLOAK OF MASKS out in November.

I’m also 9,000 words into SILENT ORDER: WRECK HAND, and I’m planning that to come out in December. It will be nice to write something slightly shorter to fit around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

After that, it will be full speed ahead on DRAGONSKULL: TALONS OF THE SORCERER.

  • Is there any way we could get a Russell short story from his time with Lady Kathromane? Or are you going to sprinkle that throughout other novels? I mean what kind of training did he do? Was that all they did? Russell is a curious guy, wouldn’t he have asked about Elvish history or politics? Or human history or politics? Not like he hasn’t figured out Tarlia redacts everything. Or what Kathromane hopes Nadia and Russell to achieve?

He spent 5 decades with an ancient archmage and we don’t know anything but the results of it.

That is one possibility as well.

  • I brought it up because I really liked the Tarlia short story where she bounced around the timeline? Actually come to think of it…..it might be even cooler to reverse my earlier comment. Make it from Kathromane’s viewpoint you know? How does she see this young human male. Heck how does she see period? Anyway food for thought, and you get 0 percent of the things you don’t ask for!
