SILENT ORDER: THUNDER HAND progress

A good way to realize that you’re out of shape is to babysit an energetic 3 year old child at a park for several hours.

Relative: Wow, Jon, you’re sweating a lot.

Me (wheezing): Yes, I’m aware, thank you.

Anyway! I returned the 3 year old child in question safely to his parents, so all ended well.

In other good news, I am now 58% of the way through SILENT ORDER: THUNDER HAND.

I have alway wondered how you have a exact percentage of your progress in a book, do you always have a fairly definitive end point that then lets you calculate your progress? Every time I write I can have rough ideas of where I’m at, but could never say 58%. Just saw that and it made me curious.

Well, I planned for 12 chapters in the book, and I had just finished chapter 7. So 7 divided by 12 is about 0.58, which puts me at roughly 58%. It will be more or less depending on how long the remaining chapters turn out to be, but it’s a handy quick guide.

Eh, little kids at a park can drain anyone. Once I tried enlisting an ally – my border collie mix, also brimming with energy – and we both barely dragged ourselves home.
