Tears Unnumbered

Started a new story today. Time to return for another ride on the high fantasy carousel:

When her husband rode to war, Lady Isolde busied herself with the management of his estates. Yet dread ever gnawed at her, and she took long rides in the countryside, lest fear overwhelm her. Every day she ranged farther and farther through the forests, until at last she came to a clearing on the border of her husband’s lands. In the clearing stood a great standing stone, carved with weathered sigils, its sides heavy with moss. The ancients had erected it, the peasants said, long before Christian men had ever come to these shores.

And in the clearing, the King of Tears Unnumbered waited for her.

One suspects this will not end well for Lady Isolde.
