GHOST IN THE RAZOR now underway

Now that I’m on Chapter 5 of GHOST IN THE RAZOR, I should probably give a little preview of what the book is going to be about.

Note that what follows has !!!SPOILERS!!! for the end of GHOST IN THE HUNT. So if you haven’t read that far, skip the rest of this post. 🙂

So, at the end of GHOST IN THE HUNT, Caina decided to find the legendary Istarish assassin Morgant the Razor, since he was apparently the only one who knew the location of the ancient relics Grand Master Callatas needs to work the Apotheosis. The problem with this is that Morgant has apparently been dead for a hundred and fifty years, so Caina will need to start digging in history to find what happened to him. The problem with that, though, is that if you look too deeply into the past, the past looks back at you…and history has some things that are better off forgotten…

Meanwhile, Caina’s about to have a much bigger problem.

Cassander Nilas, magus of the Umbarian Order, has a deal with Grand Master Callatas. Callatas wants Caina dead, badly. In fact, he wants Caina dead so badly that he’s willing to ally Istarinmul with the Umbarian Order against the Empire, an alliance that would almost certainly guarantee the Umbarians’ victory over the Empire.

Which means all Cassander has to do to destroy the Empire is to find and kill Caina Amalas.

He’s not going to do it himself, though. He’s not that stupid. He has studied Caina very closely, and while she is one woman without any arcane abilities, she has nonetheless defeated foes that Cassander himself would been unable to overcome. That’s why Cassander is going to send one of his minions after her.

Specifically, a creature that he calls The Sifter…

If all goes well, I hope to have GHOST IN THE RAZOR out in late January or early February.
