bestselling books of 2015

I finally had the chance to do some math, so I calculated my bestselling books of the year.

First, thank you for a great year! It took a while to calculate it (or to make Excel calculate it), but that is because you bought so many books. Thank you!

My bestselling fiction book was GHOST EXILE OMNIBUS ONE, and my bestselling nonfiction was (yet again) THE LINUX COMMAND LINE BEGINNERS GUIDE. I’ve gotten a lot of emails from people saying that the THE LINUX COMMAND LINE BEGINNER’S GUIDE helped them out, including one from a high school teacher who unexpectedly had to teach a Linux class with only a  few days to prepare having never used Linux before, so I’m glad people continue to find the book helpful four years after I finished it.

My bestselling individual novel was FROSTBORN: THE GORGON SPIRIT, which was also the bestselling FROSTBORN book of 2015.

The bestselling GHOSTS novel was GHOST IN THE RAZOR, and the bestselling DEMONSOULED book was SOUL OF TYRANTS.

My bestselling short story of the year? GHOST NAILS. Which I found really gratifying, because I quite liked that story. Save for self-publishing, the only other market for short stories is to various SF/F magazines, which are notoriously hard to break into, and over the course of 2015 GHOST NAILS made slightly more than I would have been paid if I had sold the story to a top-tier (such as it is) SF/F magazine. So that was really quite gratifying.

Looking forward to seeing what happens in 2016!

  • Write books and we will read them, so thank you for writing them and making them available to us. Be interesting to see a year to year comparison of total numbers if you have that data.

Thanks! There are definitely more books coming in 2016.

It’s an unpredictable business – February 2015 was my weakest month in three years, but February 2016 was my strongest ever. It makes planning for tax prep a definite challenge. 🙂
