more CLOAK GAMES books?

Freeway

Bret asks:

“You didn’t mention writing more Cloak Games books. Have you given up on that series?”

Nope! I’m 11,000 words into CLOAK GAMES: SHADOW JUMP and it will come out sometime after GHOST IN THE PACT. So, May/June or thereabouts.

Actually, I can share a little bit of what will happen in that book.

Way back in 2003 I watched THE MATRIX RELOADED when it came out. In terms of storytelling, it was only so/so, but it did have some amazing set pieces and fight scenes, especially the extended freeway chase.

Ever since I saw that, I’ve wanted to write a chase scene that takes place on a crowded freeway, and 13 years later I have the chance with CLOAK GAMES: SHADOW JUMP.

I think the way you write the action/fight scenes is one of the best parts of reading your books. That and the character interaction. Oh! and the continuing story line. Oh well pretty much all of it.

    Thank you for writing it.

Turns out the motorcycle going against traffic on the freeway in Matrix Reloaded is my favorite action scene of all time. If you can be one-tenth as compelling in a novel as that scene in the movie, I’ll be very, very impressed. 🙂 On the other hand, if you can’t beat the plot of that movie, I’ll be very, very disappointed. 🙂

I hope I can beat the plot of that movie! 🙂 To be fair, RELOADED really was a first half of a complete movie, but REVOLUTIONS just failed to deliver in my opinion.

      • You certainly did beat RELOADED’s plot, and your chase scene was quite captivating for a book, but no, it just wasn’t as thrilling as RELOADED’s freeway chase. 🙂

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.

The original version of the freeway chase was much more elaborate, by I concluded there was no way Nadia could survive it, so I scaled it back. At least, she couldn’t survive it at her current level of skill, but the future awaits. 🙂
