Interesting Links #10: technology and writing advice.

-This is my favorite article of the week. You can see that the writer is realizing that traditional publishing is a corrupt, obsolete mess – he even calls tradpub “broken and, frankly, creatively bankrupt”, and concludes with the advice “go indie and don’t look back.” (I agree!) I had sort of the same cognitive dissonance-inspiring paradigm shift in 2010, and then in 2011 I found out about Kindle Direct Publishing: Discriminating Against Quality – The New Low Of Traditional Publishing.

-Some good marketing advice here, since a lot of the “professional networking” that other jobs need really doesn’t apply to writing fiction: 5 Things I’m Not Doing To Launch My Book.

-When writing fiction, you have to learn to take self-doubt, lock it in the basement, and beat it with a bag full of doorknobs until it stops whining: Beating Critical Voice For Fiction Writers.

I started experimenting with Amazon Marketing Services this week, and Brian Meeks’ book is a good primer on the topic.
