SOUL OF SERPENTS briefly disappeared from sale on Amazon yesterday.
Upon investigating, it seemed that when I updated the book the last time, a bug in my EPUB editing software accidentally overwrote Chapter 4 with the book’s Table of Contents. So you’d be reading along, get to the end of Chapter 3…and there was the Table of Contents! Chapter 4 had vanished mysteriously.
Fortunately, I had many backup copies, and I reconstructed the book with an actual Chapter 4 and a functioning table of contents, and it’s back on sale on Amazon once more.
But, man, what a weird bug. This is why I don’t worry about artificial intelligence taking over the world. Skynet would be getting all ready to nuke mankind…and then it would try to install an update, crash, and get caught in an endless reboot loop.

I love that optimism of yours! But would bugs actually appear when, or if, computers made the code for programs? Bugs are usually caused by faults within the code, or mishandling by humans, so I’m worried that independent AI’s won’t experience any bugs at all if they take over the world
I figure that mankind was made in the image of God, who is perfect, but mankind went bad anyway. And computers were made in the image of mankind, who was already imperfect…so in light of that, it’s amazing that my PC will boot up in the morning at all!
